2+1 Dimensional Yang-Mills Theory

October 28, 2019 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Varian Physics - Room 355

Zohar Komargodski of the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University will give the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics (SITP) Monday Colloquium.

We review some of the remarkable recent progress on the problem of strong coupling in Yang-Mills theory in 2+1 dimensions. We argue for surprising infrared phases that appear at strong coupling and cover some of the existing pieces of evidence for these conjectures. We comment on the relation to some problems in 3+1 dimensional Yang-Mills theory and also explain the relation to the problem of CP violation.
