Our research includes a strong focus on fundamental questions about the new physics underlying the Standard Models of particle physics, cosmology, and gravity; and the nature and applications of our basic frameworks (quantum field theory and string theory) for attacking these questions.   Our research also includes a major emphasis on the novel phenomena in condensed matter physics that emerge in systems with many degrees of freedom.

News Spotlight

The panel, part of a workshop bringing together experimentalists and theorists at the intersection of AMO physics and quantum gravity, featured LITP faculty Stephen Shenker, Douglas Stanford, and Leonard Susskind, along with Dan Carney (Berkeley Lab) and Manuel Endres (Caltech).
In his talk at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, Savas Dimopoulos explores the emergence of nimble, small-scale science to tackle the big mysteries of physics.
Surya Ganguli is the Director, and Eva Silverstein is a Principal Investigator of this newly launched collaboration, which will explore the fundamental scientific principles underlying artificial intelligence.
